Exciting times

I love this time of year! We live across the street from the most colorful tree in town.

This morning we walked over to Avery Park to the Avery Invitational and watched Emily's race. She did well.
Go Emily!

Kicking in for the finish
It's fun living with an engaged girl and share her excitement. Jessica found the most beautiful temple dress I've every seen online.
Yesterday they left at the crack of dawn to take pictures for the announcements. I don't know which one they will choose but this is the one I like best.

Last night we had a sack supper coming home from the temple so we could make it to the Know Your Religion lecture by Tom Sherry on the JST. It was fascinating. He got to see the original manuscript and showed us pictures. He talked about the translation process and called it Joseph's crowning achievement. I always thought he hadn't finished it, but he had and just hadn't been able to get it published before he died. Brother Sherry said the details of the Plan of Salvation are in the JST and going through that translation process brought up questions in Joseph's mind which were then answered in further marvelous revelation, such as Section 76. He showed us how to mark the JST footnotes so that we always refer to them when reading. It made me think my I-pod is not very good for that!

They had an art exhibit after the lecture. Marie Campbell displayed the puzzle that she and Jason and Emily put together of the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel. It is huge!

PS For all you I-podders out there, Carl showed me that the scripture program put out free by the Church has footnotes you can make visible as you're reading. You can also highlight easier in it. The only thing it doesn't do that the other program does is scroll automatically.  I'll gladly give that up to have the footnotes easily accessible. It's called Gospel Library.

Visit to Utah

It was great to visit Utah again. I spent the first day at the library looking for Fugls. Then we drove down to Pleasant Grove and met Gail for supper at Maglebys.

The missionary reunion was poorly attended, as expected. Each year there are fewer and fewer. So we told them this was the last one. But it was fun to reminisce with them. And encourage them to look for a wife!

We enjoyed staying overnight with Gail, going for a walk with her, partaking of her raspberries for breakfast, and watching the morning session of conference. She is comfortably situated and content with life. Even though her work keeps her extra busy.

We spent the rest of the time at Carl and Velvet's. The girls are so cute! These are pictures Carl has taken of them:

Grace likes to read
Carl took this picture of us watching conference with great concentration!
Grandpa brought some crafts for the girls to do
We went on a walk to the park. The video is of the girls on the playground equipment.
