Spring Break was particularly exciting this year.
On Tuesday the Dodges came. Ken came over and helped Jonathan and Michael work on the ailing Brewster car. He said it was the modern day equivalent to a barn raising! It did seem like they had fun together and it did get fixed.
Wednesday we joined the Dodges and Brewsters at a really cool beach house at Bella Beach in Depot Bay. I forgot my camera so I hope Sheryl will post some pictures. We soaked in the hot tub, walked on the beach, played games, watched How to Train Your Dragon, and drove into Depot Bay to visit the whale watching museum and salt water taffy shop. It was a relaxing two days.
Friday we came home, re-packed, and headed for Central Point. Emily received her endowment on Saturday and it was a privilege to be there. See Neil's blogpost for details and pictures. That night Emily and Jason spent hours making their wedding announcements. Pam, Esther and I helped. They turned out really well. All they need is the photo and a stamp and they're ready to mail.
Sunday was Zachary's 15th birthday. Pam cooked a marvelous meal and the girls and Jason made Boston Cream Pie (which is really a cake) for his birthday dinner. Gideon wanted to blow out his candles so Neil lit some for him to blow out.

A new calling; goodbye to Cubs
It is amazing how a new calling can change your outlook and your inlook, if there is such a word. You feel differently about the people around you, and you feel differently about yourself. There is a world of difference between being a Cub Scout den leader and being a counselor in the ward Relief Society.
But there is one thing the two callings have in common and that's love. I loved those Cubs, even (or especially) the rowdiest of the bunch. And I love the sisters in our ward. We visited a new move-in this week named Haley Bell. She's been married one month, a member just since last September. She sings, plays soccer and is a caregiver at Stoneybrook. Her husband, Ryan, proposed to her in a cemetery! This is going to be fun.
The president is Robin Thomson, about Sheryl's age, four kids plus a handicapped foster daughter. She home schools her kids and lives way out in the country. The other counselor is Andrea Gunnell, about Carl's age. She has one daughter, age 10, plays the organ, and is married to a counselor in the bishopric. The secretary is Lindsey Louk, way young with a toddler and a brand new baby born last week. Her husband is a student in English.
