Things I have learned...

...this week.

There are two mantras swimming around in my head that will hopefully help me live a better life!

1. Enjoy the journey. This is from a talk Sheryl had me watch on U-Tube by a guy named Rao who was talking about how to be happy. He said people think, "If _____happens, then I will be happy." But that's not the way it works. We can't determine the outcome so we should just enjoy the process.

2. Is it true, is it kind, is it necessary? We had a FHE discussion at Jim's on not criticizing. Which I do on a frequent basis. If you never hear me open my mouth again, it will be because I'm asking myself these 3 questions first!

I wonder what I will learn next week.....

Curiously, I had recently come across Srikumar Rao's video about happiness as well. Here is a link

I was enjoying the journey as I changed a flat bicycle tire the other day. I was thankful that a)it happened on a quiet low-traffic road, b)I found a spot out of the rain to fix it, and c) it happened on the way home so I wasn't late for work. Instead of being entirely disgusted with Oregon winter cycling, I enjoyed some nearby daffodils in bloom and a sun break.

I'm currently reading his book and will have to give you a post on that.

Thanks for sharing these uplifting thoughts, mom. We can all use help in these areas.
I gained a new perspective from the book heart in the right place, about happiness in accepting where you are in life and serving where you can. It has helped me to stop kicking against the pricks, so to speak.
