The Gospel is "cool"

I just got a phone call from a new convert in our ward. He's enthusiastic and excited about the gospel. I guess he called us because he knows we're home in the day. (He's also one of our home teachers.) He had a question from the Gospel Essentials class yesterday that he didn't get a chance to ask because there was so much discussion. He said Adam and Eve were commanded to pray to Heavenly Father in the name of Jesus Christ. He asked how that could be since Jesus wouldn't be born for a couple of thousand years. I explained that Jesus was the same before He was born--called to be our Savior, the Creator, and our Judge. He said, "Did Adam and Eve know that?" I said yes they did. He thought that was so "cool." And it is. It is cool.

The gospel is the same, no matter the dispensation.

I remember when I was in the early stages of conversion and what a glorious experience the study part was.

I was reading Sterling W. Sill books off my Dad's shelves, which were out of print, and I swear, everywhere I went, I was crossing paths with references to it. I mean you read something and it's not even current, it speaks to your soul, days later you hear it again in another setting. No mention of the author but you recognize it. One of the sweet confirmations that what I was learning was worthy.

Not that SWS was the only thing - one of many. Mom put Sam Weller on the trail and gifted me a number of his books, which was sweet.

So yes, the Gospel is very cool.
