Spring Break

It was fun to have the girls come to visit along with their kids. Sheryl went with me each morning to the pool to exercise. We walked in the rain to Avery Park.

The funnest thing was on Wednesday we went to the coast. First we went to the Hatfield Marine Science Center which we hadn't visited for years. There are a lot of new exhibits.

Then we went to Mo's Annex for a great lunch. Then we drove south to Beachside to look for agates. The wind was the strongest we've every seen so that stop was short. We went back to Corvallis for supper. Ken and Rachel came and picked up Robin and visited with us. Fun day!

"Let's find agates." Sydney is always up for an adventure!

Weekend in Beaverton

There's always a lot happening at Mike and Brenda's. We went there Friday night after our temple shift. They had just put down new carpeting which looks very nice. Sydney was getting ready for the Battle of the Books. Brenda's friend, Jane, came and painted her fingernails green (for St. Patrick's day) and her friend helped her drill for it.
Getting ready

Saturday morning the Battle went very well. Sydney was the spokesperson for her team and they did super great. They won the first heat and were eliminated in the second one. The questions on a dozen books seemed quite difficult to me!

Sunday we went to church in Brenda's ward. Pam and Sheryl came also with their boys. My girls and I went to choir practice. I accompanied and they sang in the choir. It was a beautiful Sally deForde song. We got to hear Sydney give a talk in Primary about listening to the Prophet.

Sunday night was the Eagle Scout Court of Honor for Berkeley and his neighbor, Nicholas Painter. Lots of people came and it was a huge Eagles' nest. His two cousins, Jason and Zachary, were in it, as well as his Dad. Mike gave a touching speech about Berkeley's achievements. His project was at a park clearing out ivy and blackberries and then planting trees. Berkeley awarded his mentor pin to Sister Painter who had been the advancement chairman and kept encouraging him along.

Proud moment!

Berkeley gave a well thought out and articulate response.

Cutting the cakes.

We couldn't have been more proud!

Ann Marie's 10th Birthday

It's enough to make a set of parents feel old--having your youngest go into 2 digits!

First we went to Rachel's Heart of the Valley choral concert. Her choir was last and sounded just wonderful. It looked like so much fun for her and I think she's gaining more confidence because of her participation in the choir.

Then we met for Ann Marie's birthday party. Robin made her cake (which featured gummy worms and chocolate "dirt"), because Rachel was too busy rehearsing for her concert.

Stephanie and Jeff came too, so we took a family picture. Annabelle has really changed. Also you can see how much weight Polly has lost! She's looking good and I'm proud of her.
