There's always a lot happening at Mike and Brenda's. We went there Friday night after our temple shift. They had just put down new carpeting which looks very nice. Sydney was getting ready for the Battle of the Books. Brenda's friend, Jane, came and painted her fingernails green (for St. Patrick's day) and her friend helped her drill for it.

Saturday morning the Battle went very well. Sydney was the spokesperson for her team and they did super great. They won the first heat and were eliminated in the second one. The questions on a dozen books seemed quite difficult to me!

Sunday we went to church in Brenda's ward. Pam and Sheryl came also with their boys. My girls and I went to choir practice. I accompanied and they sang in the choir. It was a beautiful Sally deForde song. We got to hear Sydney give a talk in Primary about listening to the Prophet.
Sunday night was the Eagle Scout Court of Honor for Berkeley and his neighbor, Nicholas Painter. Lots of people came and it was a huge Eagles' nest. His two cousins, Jason and Zachary, were in it, as well as his Dad. Mike gave a touching speech about Berkeley's achievements. His project was at a park clearing out ivy and blackberries and then planting trees. Berkeley awarded his mentor pin to Sister Painter who had been the advancement chairman and kept encouraging him along.

Battle of the Books sounds most intriguing....
Neat that you played for the choir.
Berkeley's Eagle bring back memories. Wish Grant would have had some cousins in the eagles' nest. His deal for doing it was NO eagles' nest. His loss....
Congratulations!
It was great to be there! I loved watching Sydney lead the opening song at the court of honor (she did great) and Mike get emotional when he was talking about Berkeley's accomplishments and character.
